A Message from the Daughter of the Akha Village Chief
In my home village in the mountains of Chiang Rai, food has always been a way to share love and respect. As the daughter of an Akha village chief, I grew up understanding the importance of tradition and the warmth of a meal made by hand.
Now, here in Phuket, I want to bring that same heart to you. Each Omusubi is not just rice; it is a promise of quality and a gift of sincerity. I personally hand-press every single one, ensuring that the ‘Al dente’ texture is perfect and the spirit of my heritage is folded within.
This is a taste you can find only here in Phuket. I don’t seek to expand to many stores—I only seek to make the best Omusubi for the person standing right in front of me.
Please come and taste the difference that heart and heritage make. I am waiting to press one just for you.
The Art of the Perfect Omusubi: Our Journey of Gratitude
We don’t just make Omusubi; we ‘press’ them with the soul of a 2,680-year-old culinary tradition.
To ensure our flavors are authentic, we embarked on an extraordinary journey across all 47 prefectures of Japan. In 2024, to mark our 10th anniversary of engagement, we traversed Western Japan. In 2025, for our 10th wedding anniversary, we conquered Eastern Japan—each trip spanning exactly 39 days on a motorcycle. Why 39 days? Because in Japanese, the numbers 3 and 9 are pronounced ‘San-Kyu’—a personal tribute of ‘Thank You’ from me to my wife, Malee, for ten wonderful years together.
Throughout these 78 days on the road, we explored the true essence of Japanese soul food, from hidden mountain villages to historic coastal towns. We have integrated that vast knowledge of authentic ingredients with the heartfelt hand-craftsmanship of Malee, the daughter of an Akha village chief.
This experience is exclusive to Phuket. We have no plans to expand; we prefer to keep our craft intimate and perfect for the person standing right in front of us. We invite you to taste the culmination of our journey and our gratitude.
